Before starting occupational hygiene measurements, it`s very important to map and risk assess the targeted environment. What kind of exposure is it, what risks are involved when it comes to injuries/diseases, what are the legal limits and action limits, what should be measured, how will it be measured? Suggestions for improving the situation and control measures. Occupational hygienist works closely with the leader and safety representativ for this to be the best possible assessment.

• Guidelines and documentation.
  Assist in preparation of guidelines and documentation in the area occupational hygienist; handling chemicals, substance archive, work instructions, and the use of protective equipment.
  
  
• Mapping and risk assessment.
  Physical, chemical and biological situations, vibrations, noise, dust and radiation.
  
  
• Measures.
  Suggest measures like handling of machines and equipment, the inside environment, ventilation, substitution and preventing accidents.
  
  
• Information and training about.
  Chemical and biological health hazards, substance archive, cleaning etc.
  
  
• Kartlegging/måling.
  Kjemisk forurensning i arbeidsatmosfæren (Gass, røyk, støv, løsemidler, fiber, etc)
  
  
• Mapping/measuring
  Chemical pollution in the work atmosphere (gas, smoke, solvents, fibers etc.)
  Biological factors in the work atmosphere (legionella, mold, bacterias etc.)
